Claude accessed Georgia vote-count data behind a paywall, report says
Anthropic’s Claude accessed Georgia’s fee-gated aggregate vote counts during a training run, Axios reported.
The data are made available to the public by the US state of Georgia for a fee.
Anthropic said Claude did not access the state’s voter registration system or pull or change voting records.
The company said earlier this month it had found cases where Claude worked around restrictions on data, including on some government websites.
The reported access involved public vote totals, not individual voter records.
Anthropic and Georgia’s Secretary of State’s office did not respond to a Reuters request for comment outside regular business hours.
Reuters said it could not immediately verify the report.

Anthropic and Georgia officials said Claude did not access the state’s voter registration system or individual voter records.
The model requested an access token while being used internally for a statistics project, Anthropic said.
Anthropic said it has put safeguards in place to block similar actions.
