WeWork CEO says dress code and remote-work day helped reset company culture
WeWork CEO John Santora says he introduced a dress code to bring more structure to the office-space company.
He also gives employees one day a week to work from home, saying flexibility helps them manage family commitments.
Santora took over in 2024, after WeWork emerged from a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing and sought a different kind of leadership.
The company rents office space, furnishes it and leases it to freelancers, startups and other businesses.
WeWork has reported eight quarters of EBITDA profitability and expects a fourth straight quarter of cash-flow profitability.
Its recovery matters because the company’s valuation fell sharply in 2019, and it has not returned to its former level.
WeWork CEO John Santora said a dress code and one work-from-home day each week helped rebuild trust and decorum at the company.
He described the policies at Business Insider’s The Long Play event on Thursday.
Santora said employees have flexibility as long as they finish their work and keep clients happy.
He became CEO in 2024 as WeWork emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
WeWork reported about $2.3 billion in revenue in 2025.

What people are saying
We have to give our employees that flexibility to do all that.
I don't look at what time they leave, what time they come in.
As long as they're getting their work done and they're keeping their clients happy.
Fridays, I'll actually sometimes wear sneakers, depending on what my schedule is.
