Tarik Skubal faces free agency after Dodgers’ playoff exit

The Milwaukee Brewers swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series, ending the Dodgers’ season.

The Dodgers had acquired pitcher Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers at the August trade deadline, hoping he would strengthen their bid for a third straight World Series title.

Skubal pitched well for Los Angeles, including in the playoffs, and is now set to become a free agent this offseason.

He won the American League Cy Young Award in both 2024 and 2025, making him one of the most sought-after players on the market.

Skubal declined to discuss his future after the Dodgers’ elimination, saying he was focused on the loss.

His next contract is uncertain because baseball’s labor agreement is due to expire on Dec.

1, and team spending rules could change.

The Dodgers have several established starting pitchers under contract, but it remains unclear whether they will try to keep Skubal.
