Fuel drove faster price growth in Russia in the third quarter

The Bank of Russia said fuel was a main driver of price growth in Russia in the third quarter of 2026.

Seasonally adjusted price growth averaged 8% at an annualised rate, up from 4.8% in the second quarter.

Core inflation, which tracks price changes excluding some volatile items, rose to 6.2% from 4.5%.

The bank said volatile prices, especially motor fuel, continued to affect the overall picture.

Annual inflation was 6.8% as of October 19, according to the bank.

It expects inflation to be between 7.1% and 7.6% by the end of 2026.

These figures show price growth was running faster than in the previous quarter, and the bank’s forecast points to a further rise in annual inflation by year-end.
