Bahlil Denies Involvement in Tapping Claims and Threatens Legal Action

Indonesia’s energy minister and Golkar leader Bahlil Lahadalia denies involvement in alleged phone tapping.

The claims have linked him to the alleged tapping of President Prabowo Subianto and others.

Bahlil says he was also a target of tapping, and argues that this makes the accusations against him implausible.

One claim says a party leader met people later arrested before a police general was detained; Bahlil denies attending such a meeting.

He has given those spreading the claims 72 hours to clarify and provide evidence.

If they do not, he says he may take legal action over what he calls false accusations.

Bahlil has also asked police to investigate the alleged tapping and identify those involved.
