Brest and Nice pay tribute to former coach Eric Roy

Brest and Nice paid tribute to Eric Roy before their Ligue 1 match in Brest on Friday.

Roy, who died in June, had spent three years at Brest and was born and began his playing career in Nice.

He later returned to Nice as a player, then worked there as sporting director and coach.

The clubs marked his connection to both sides with special black armbands featuring Roy, and officials laid flowers at a memorial mural at Brest’s stadium.

Nice’s coach also presented a shirt bearing Roy’s name and number 6 before kick-off.

The tribute honoured a coach remembered by both clubs during the opening match of Ligue 1’s eighth round.
