MagentaTV 2.0 may not support older receivers and smart TVs

Deutsche Telekom is gradually moving customers to MagentaTV 2.0, its updated television platform.

There is no single date when the old service will end for everyone, and customers are to be told before their individual switch.

Recordings saved on older receivers cannot be transferred because the new platform uses cloud storage for recordings.

The change can also require new hardware, since older Media Receivers are not compatible with MagentaTV 2.0.

Some older smart TVs are not officially supported: the listed requirements include Samsung models from 2018 onward, LG webOS 5 or later, Android TV 7.1 or later, and Hisense VIDAA U6 or later.

A streaming device can let customers keep using their TV, including a MagentaTV One, MagentaTV Stick, Apple TV or compatible Fire TV device.

Customers should check their device and software before switching; the available information gives no universal shutdown date for older TVs.
