Court official helps stop car fire from spreading in South Korea
On October 9, Changwon court official Kang Jeong-hyeon spotted a car fire while travelling with his family in Cheongju, South Korea.
The fire was on a national road in Oksan-myeon, and heavy smoke was coming from the car.
Kang told the driver and passenger to call emergency services and move away from the vehicle.
He borrowed extinguishers from nearby businesses and greenhouses and began fighting the fire.
Firefighters arrived and put it out, and no one was reported injured.
The quick response helped limit the risk that the flames would spread and cause further damage.
Kang had attended emergency and fire-safety training and held a fire-safety manager certificate, but said anyone in public service would have acted the same way.
