Former Raiders running back Pete Banaszak dies at 82

Former Raiders running back Pete Banaszak has died at 82, the team announced on Saturday.

He spent all 13 of his professional seasons with the Raiders, joining the Oakland team after being selected in the 1966 AFL draft.

Banaszak played 192 regular-season and postseason games, and was part of the Raiders’ first Super Bowl-winning team.

He also played a key role in the famous “Holy Roller” play.

His 47 career rushing touchdowns rank second in Raiders history, while his 16 rushing touchdowns in 1975 remain a team single-season record.

Banaszak retired after the 1978 season and was inducted into the National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame in 1990.
