Indonesia’s Government Debt Ratio Falls to 40.3% of GDP

Indonesia’s government debt rose to Rp10,326.93 trillion by the end of the third quarter of 2026, up from the previous quarter.

But debt fell as a share of the economy, to 40.3% of GDP from 41.26% in the second quarter.

The finance ministry’s debt office said faster economic growth helped lower the ratio, even as the amount owed increased.

Indonesia’s economy grew 5.47% year on year in the third quarter, compared with 5.29% in the second.

The debt ratio remains below Indonesia’s legal limit of 60% of GDP.

The government says it will keep debt at a controlled level and manage budget financing efficiently.
