Indonesia oil output at 95% of 2026 target with two months left
Indonesia’s SKK Migas expects to meet its 2026 oil target with two months remaining in the year.
The target is 610,000 barrels per day, while oil and condensate lifting has reached 578,600 barrels per day, or about 95% of the goal.
Lifting is the amount of oil and condensate produced and brought to the surface.
Rising domestic energy demand drives calls for higher production from year to year.
But many of the areas managed by SKK Migas and its contractors are mature fields, where output naturally declines.
SKK Migas is using new production plans and extensive drilling to slow that decline and move closer to the target.
The agency says it will continue those efforts over the remaining two months.
Indonesia’s oil and condensate lifting had reached 578,600 barrels per day, about 95% of the 2026 target, SKK Migas said.
The agency’s target for the year is 610,000 barrels per day.
SKK Migas said it remains optimistic that the target can be met with two months left in the year.
Deputy for Finance and Commercialization Desti Melanti said the agency is pursuing new lifting scenarios.
She said mature oil and gas areas pose a challenge, and the agency is trying to slow natural production declines through more drilling.
- Who
- SKK Migas, Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas regulator. Deputy for Finance and Commercialization Desti Melanti discussed the figures.
- What
- Oil and condensate lifting reached 578,600 barrels per day, about 95% of the 2026 target of 610,000 barrels per day.
- When
- The figures were discussed at a press conference on October 20, 2026. The report was published on October 21.
- Where
- Jakarta, Indonesia.
- Why
- Domestic energy needs are increasing, and SKK Migas says production must support that demand.
This story does not have two clearly opposing sides.
Desti Melanti discussed the target and current lifting figures at a press conference in Central Jakarta.

What people are saying
There are still two months left. We are optimistic that through several new lifting scenarios, efforts will continue to bring us closer to the 2026 lifting target.
Increasing demand must be supported by production from working areas managed by SKK Migas together with production-sharing contract contractors.
