Godzilla Minus Zero May Be Delayed in India Over IMAX Screen Access

Godzilla Minus Zero may be postponed in India, according to reports, but no change has been officially confirmed.

The Japanese monster film was scheduled to open in India on November 6, the same weekend as Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Rise of a Legend.

Both films are set for IMAX releases, and reports say limited access to those screens may have prompted the Indian distributor, PVR INOX Pictures, to consider a new date.

A previous report said Godzilla could have had only one daily show at some IMAX locations because of demand for Ramayana.

The films are competing for premium-format screens as well as audiences, which could affect how widely Godzilla is shown in India.

The film is still scheduled to open in Japan on November 3, with its North American theatrical rollout beginning November 6.

If it moves in India, it may also face competition for premium screens from December releases Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three.
