Jannabi Holds First Ballad Concert at Seoul’s KSPO Dome

South Korean band Jannabi held its first ballad concert at Seoul’s KSPO Dome on Oct.

23.

Vocalist Choi Jung-hoon and guitarist Kim Do-hyung performed songs about childhood, first love and other memories.

The set brought the band’s nostalgic lyrics and sound to the fore, with the audience listening quietly and joining in on some songs.

Jannabi is known for a retro style, and the show used a room-like stage and vintage props to match that mood.

The concert offered a gentler contrast to the band’s usual performances, which some people see as restrained; the members said ballads could still feel emotionally powerful.

Jannabi recently completed its first Asia tour, visiting seven cities across seven countries, including Taipei, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore.

The tour ends with two more KSPO Dome shows on Oct.

24 and 25, under the title “Sweat and Stardust.”

Although it seems like a ballad concert would be calm, I feel that something hot inside rises even more.
