Baylor fires coach Dave Aranda after loss to Kansas

Baylor has fired coach Dave Aranda after seven seasons, following a 25-24 loss to Kansas on Saturday.

The loss ended Baylor's 14-game winning streak against Kansas and came a week after a defeat by TCU.

Aranda led the Bears to the 2021 Big 12 championship and a Sugar Bowl victory, but Baylor did not match that success again.

The team had four losing seasons during his tenure, and the sources give different final records: 40-40 and 40-39.

Baylor athletic director Doug McNamee now faces a coaching search, his first major one since taking the role last December.

The school will also need to consider its roster and recruiting as it chooses a successor.
