88 people seek treatment after suspected food poisoning in Siirt

88 people sought treatment for suspected food poisoning in Kayabağlar, a town in Kurtalan district in Turkey’s Siirt province.

They include 77 students and 11 other people.

55 people were treated without staying in hospital, while 33 were admitted for care.

Initial checks found that some of those who fell ill had eaten chicken wraps from a local business.

The wraps were bought either packaged from a school canteen or directly from the business.

Authorities took samples to find out what caused the illness, and the business owner was detained as part of a judicial investigation.

Health services are continuing to treat and monitor patients, and officials say they will provide further updates.
