Northwood Space raises $375 million at a $2 billion valuation

Northwood Space raised $375 million in a new funding round, valuing the company at $2 billion.

The round was co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and DFJ Growth, and HSBC also provided a separate credit facility whose value was not disclosed.

The company builds antennas and software that help satellites communicate with Earth, and its CEO is co-founder Bridgit Mendler.

Northwood is trying to build a large network of satellite ground stations that can be expanded quickly.

It has a nearly $50 million contract with the U.S. Space Force to support the military’s Satellite Control Network.

The new money will support hiring, expansion and existing contracts, including deploying antennas at more sites around the world.

Mendler said the company plans to reach and surpass the hundreds of sites in today’s largest ground networks.
