Turkey’s communications chief warns of AI risks at youth media awards

Turkey’s communications chief Burhanettin Duran spoke at TRT’s Future Communicators awards about changes in media and communication.

He said the event gives young people a way to express themselves and contribute new ideas.

The competition is being held for the 12th time, with 15 categories and a special category marking the July 15 events.

This year’s campaign theme is generative artificial intelligence, which Duran said offers new possibilities for media.

He also warned that AI can worsen privacy risks, misinformation and fake content.

Duran argued that technology should serve people and human values, rather than be treated as an end in itself.

His office says it works to improve digital and media literacy and public awareness of disinformation.
