SBS postpones Hayoung drama after controversy over her great-grandfather

SBS has postponed its drama “We Have a Winning Hand” after controversy involving lead actor Hayoung.

The South Korean series stars Hayoung and Lee Je Hoon and follows a struggling law office.

The controversy concerns allegations about Hayoung’s great-grandfather’s activities during Japanese colonial rule in Korea.

Hayoung initially denied the claims, then apologized after reviewing records and left Netflix’s “The Trauma Code” seasons 2 and 3.

SBS has not announced a new broadcast date for the completed drama.

The baseball drama “Full Count” is set to premiere in February 2027 and will take its place in SBS’s schedule.

The problem lies in Japanese colonial rule, so, naturally, the purging of pro-Japanese collaborators is a historical issue between Korea and Japan in a broad sense.
