Two Groups Clash in Makassar After Taunts, Fire Breaks Out in Vacant Lot

Two groups clashed in Makassar, a city in Indonesia's South Sulawesi province, on Thursday evening.

The groups, known as Jor-joran and Loner, fought on Abubakar Lambogo Street.

Police said the clash began with taunts between the groups, which led to a fight.

Those involved threw stones and arrows and used Molotov cocktails and firecrackers.

Women from both groups joined in, shouting at one another and defending their children, according to police.

Some of the fighting reached a vacant lot, where grass and a pile of wood caught fire, but the fire was brought under control.
