Türkiye and Cambodia sign military cooperation agreement

Türkiye and Cambodia signed a military framework agreement in Istanbul on Friday.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Hun Manet met at Türkiye’s Presidential Dolmabahçe Office for talks between the two countries.

The deal aims to deepen defense cooperation, though the agreement’s specific measures were not detailed.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan signed for Türkiye, and Cambodian Deputy Defense Minister Prak Sovanna signed for Cambodia.

The agreement is part of efforts to broaden ties, which also include diplomatic and humanitarian cooperation; Erdoğan said Turkish aid had reached more than 3,000 people in Cambodia.

Türkiye is expected to expand cooperation with ASEAN in areas including trade, defense industry and energy after becoming a dialogue partner of the regional bloc.
