Pegida founder plans Dresden rally on November 3
Pegida founder Lutz Bachmann has registered a rally in Dresden for November 3, 2026.
It is planned for outside the Frauenkirche, with the slogan “Time to stand up.”
About 50 to 100 people are currently expected, and Bachmann has said the gathering starts at 6 p.m.
Dresden’s assembly authority says it has not yet issued a decision on the event, while police say they will accompany it.
The rally would mark Bachmann’s return to demonstrations in Germany after Pegida announced an end to its rallies in October 2024 as support declined.
Bachmann was given a 13-month suspended sentence in March 2026, including for aiding incitement to hatred, and remains classified as a right-wing extremist under observation.
Former Austrian vice-chancellor Hans-Christian Strache is expected to attend as a guest, according to the report.
