Morelos PAN deputy seeks security chief’s appearance and raises resignation
PAN deputy Andrea Gordillo wants Morelos’ security chief to answer questions before the state Congress.
Her party plans to formally request the appearance of José Luis Bucio Quiroz during a congressional session.
Gordillo says Morelos ranks first in intentional homicides and youth homicides, and argues that authorities have not shown enough action to address the problem.
The demand comes after a Morelos operation in Totolapan ended with authorities releasing a man identified as José David “N” after civilians blocked roads and three agents were held; one agent was injured by gunfire.
Federal security chief Omar García Harfuch said the release was intended to avoid a confrontation and save lives, and said the man would be detained later.
Gordillo says Bucio Quiroz should resign if he does not produce results, while her party’s request for him to appear before Congress is the next stated step.
