Six arrested after two people are killed in Baghdad shooting

Iraqi authorities arrested six people, including a woman, after two people were killed in a shooting in Baghdad.

The Interior Ministry said the shooting happened inside a home in the city’s Rusafa area, while an earlier account placed it in Al-Basatin, in the Al-Shaab district.

That earlier account said a man and a woman were shot by two people on a motorcycle and suggested the killings may have been linked to so-called “honour” motives.

The ministry has not confirmed a motive, so the circumstances remain unclear.

Police said they seized three pistols believed to have been used in the killings.

The six suspects are in custody and are to be referred to court for legal proceedings.
