Kagoshima freight company enters bankruptcy with about ¥120 million in debt

Kagoshima Marutou entered bankruptcy proceedings on October 2 after a court in Kagoshima, Japan, issued an order to begin the process.

The freight company was founded in 1986 and mainly transported ready-mixed concrete, as well as timber.

Its sales fell to about ¥76 million in the financial year ending March 2026, after a decline in the previous year and an operating loss.

The company said there was no clear outlook for improving its business.

It stopped operating in August and dismissed all eight employees.

Its debts total about ¥120 million, based on figures at the end of March 2026.

The bankruptcy process will now proceed through the Kagoshima District Court.
