IAS officer Sanjay Kumar Singh may become Bihar chief minister’s principal secretary

Sanjay Kumar Singh may return to Bihar from Odisha to become Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary’s principal secretary.

Singh is a 1997-batch Indian Administrative Service officer who currently works as a principal secretary in Odisha’s government.

He has previously served in Bihar, including as district magistrate of Patna and Gaya and in the chief minister’s office.

The move depends on an inter-cadre deputation, a transfer that allows an officer to serve in a state other than the one they are assigned to.

Odisha has agreed to his deputation, while the process also includes a vigilance report; the accounts differ on whether that report is still pending.

No official appointment order has been issued, so Singh’s return and new role are not confirmed.

If appointed, he would help manage the chief minister’s administrative work and coordination across departments.
