Texas to review quarterback and offense after 27-24 loss to Florida

Florida beat No.

7 Texas 27-24 in Austin on Saturday, rallying from a 17-3 halftime deficit.

The loss was Texas’ second straight against an unranked opponent, after its defeat by Oklahoma the previous week.

Arch Manning lost a late fumble when Texas was trying to set up a game-tying field goal, and Florida recovered to protect its lead.

Manning finished with 173 passing yards and a touchdown, while Florida’s first-time starting quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. threw for two touchdowns.

Coach Steve Sarkisian said every part of the team would be reviewed, including the quarterback spot and offensive play-calling.

Texas is now 4-2, and the loss has made its route to the 12-team playoff harder.

Texas hosts Mississippi next week, with tougher games against several ranked opponents still to come.
