Prisoner escapes police outside Uster hospital; search continues

A 49-year-old Italian prisoner escaped outside Uster Hospital in Uster, Switzerland, on Thursday afternoon.

He had been taken there for a medical examination and was detained on suspicion of property-related offences.

As two policewomen escorted him back to their vehicle, he broke free and ran away; he had appeared weak beforehand.

Police are still searching for him, and a tracking dog was used in the area.

The police have not released a description because this is not a public manhunt, and they say there is no danger to the public.

The circumstances of the escape are under investigation.
