Black Friday shoppers plan to spend an average of £304 on themselves
A survey of 2,000 UK adults who shop during Black Friday found shoppers plan to spend just over £304 on themselves, £170.33 more than last year.
The research found that 35% plan to buy for themselves rather than focus on Christmas gifts.
Fashion, beauty products and small household appliances are among the most popular planned purchases.
Some shoppers have set money aside for bigger purchases, cutting back on takeaways, coffees and nights out.
Of those planning a major purchase, 23% expect to buy technology such as a phone, tablet, laptop or TV.
Many value durability and trusted brands, with half saying a longer-lasting product can justify a higher price.
The survey was commissioned by Samsung, whose Black Friday offers are due to launch on 4 November; the shopping event falls on 27 November.
