Real Madrid calls for LaLiga chief Javier Tebas to resign

Real Madrid has called for LaLiga president Javier Tebas to resign after comments he made about the club.

Tebas said the club’s leadership and television channel repeat complaints about referees, fuel suspicion and identify enemies.

He said this approach recalled propaganda methods used by Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Germany’s propaganda chief, but stressed he was comparing techniques, not ideology.

Real Madrid called the comparison deeply offensive and said it showed Tebas lacked the neutrality required for his role; the club also wants him to leave his post as vice-president of Spain’s football federation.

The dispute reflects a wider fight over refereeing, with Real Madrid TV regularly showing decisions the club considers errors and Tebas criticising those broadcasts.

The club has also accused Tebas of not doing enough over a judicial investigation into alleged payments by Barcelona to a refereeing official; Tebas says LaLiga acted from the start.

Tebas rejected the resignation demand and said Madrid’s leaders had repeatedly sought his removal, while accusing them of trying to intimidate him.

No further action following the demand was stated.
