Jeffrey Donaldson investigated over alleged rape in Parliament

London police are investigating former DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson over an allegation of rape.

The woman says the alleged rape took place in the Houses of Parliament in 2016.

Police in Northern Ireland first heard the woman’s claims and passed them to London police because the alleged offence took place in London.

Donaldson was sentenced to 15 years in prison last week for child sex offences against two victims, including rape, committed between 1985 and 2008.

He is seeking to appeal those convictions, and his wife was also convicted in that case.

The new investigation is in its early stages, and police say no arrests have been made and enquiries are continuing.
