Taika Waititi Says His Star Wars Movie Is on Hold Indefinitely

Taika Waititi says his Star Wars movie is on hold while he and his collaborators work on a different project.

The New Zealand director confirmed the news while promoting his film Klara and the Sun.

The Star Wars movie has been in development since 2020, but it has not moved into production.

Waititi said he has about four other films he is trying to make.

The project’s future is uncertain, though he said a pause might not be permanent.

Former Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy had previously described the movie as still somewhat alive.

There is no confirmed release date or next step for Waititi’s film.
