Korea customs lab meets accuracy standards in international drug test

South Korea’s Central Customs Laboratory met all accuracy standards in an international drug-analysis test.

The test was organized in September by Australia’s National Measurement Institute, and the lab announced its result on October 20.

Thirty-three specialist institutions worldwide took part, analyzing identical samples so their results could be compared.

The samples contained methamphetamine and MDMA, drugs also known as meth and ecstasy.

Other substances, including sugar, were mixed into the samples to resemble drugs seized in real cases.

The result shows the lab met the test’s accuracy criteria for analyzing these drugs, though no further action was announced.
