HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding targets 23 ships a year by 2030

HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding plans to build 23 ships a year by 2030 as it marks its 30th anniversary.

The company is in Ninh Hoa, in Vietnam’s central Khanh Hoa province, and was set up in 1996 as a joint venture between HD Hyundai and Vietnam’s state shipbuilding company.

It plans to invest $100 million to expand its docks, quay walls and other production facilities.

The company says it accounts for about 70% of Vietnam’s ship orders and more than 80% of its ship deliveries.

Its site lease has been extended until 2066, giving the company a longer period to operate there.

The 2030 target is part of a plan to expand capacity, with a longer-term goal of building 30 ships a year.
