Swiss firms plan average pay rises of 1% in 2027

A UBS survey found Swiss firms plan average pay rises of 1% in 2027, down from 1.1% in 2026.

The survey covered nearly 400 companies and employer and employee groups across 22 sectors.

UBS expects inflation of 0.8%, leaving workers with a real wage gain of just 0.2% after prices rise.

That would be below the long-term average and the 0.4% real wage gain expected for 2026.

Pay increases are set to be largest in energy and utility services, at 1.5%, while watches and jewellery are set for the smallest, at 0.7%.

Most sectors plan increases of around 1%, even as companies are more confident about the economy.

Firms remain cautious about hiring, with most expecting unemployment and staffing levels to stay broadly unchanged.
