China launches inspections of education ministry and 31 universities

China has begun the eighth round of central inspections under its current Central Committee.

Fifteen teams will inspect the party organizations of the Ministry of Education and 31 centrally managed universities.

The inspections are part of the ruling Communist Party’s system of internal oversight, and focus on how education policies are carried out and how party organizations are run.

Teams will examine work on student development, education, science and talent, risk prevention, discipline and leadership.

The stated aim is to identify and help resolve major problems and support the development of education.

The teams are expected to work at the organizations for about two months, and will accept public complaints until December 21, 2026.
