Ather Energy reports first quarterly profit and plans capacity expansion
Ather Energy made a quarterly profit of ₹1.26 crore in the three months ending September, its first profitable quarter.
A year earlier, it had reported a loss of ₹154.1 crore.
The Indian electric two-wheeler maker’s revenue rose 63% to ₹1,464.2 crore, while vehicle sales increased 44% to 93,000.
Ather plans to invest ₹122 crore to expand production capacity at its Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu and a factory under construction in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.
The expansion is expected to add 225,000 vehicles of annual capacity by Q2 FY28, taking total installed capacity to about 1.14 million a year.
The company says limited supply is holding back sales, and Hosur was at 98% capacity use during peak production.
Higher raw-material costs remain a challenge, so Ather will need to increase output and manage costs to sustain its progress.
