TikTok launches restaurant guide Must Eat in three US areas
TikTok has launched Must Eat, a guide to restaurants popular on the platform.
The feature is starting in New York City, Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area.
It brings together recommendations from TikTok posts and comments, letting users browse by city and filter by cuisine, price, rating and location.
The guide groups restaurants as Everyday Eats or Elevated Dining, for casual meals or special occasions.
TikTok says more than 27 million Americans visited an independent restaurant, cafe or store they first discovered on TikTok last year.
The feature builds on TikTok’s role in helping food creators introduce audiences to local restaurants, and puts the company in more direct competition with Yelp and Google Maps.
Users can find Must Eat through TikTok search, the Local feed, restaurant pages and links on videos, while selected restaurants can be booked through OpenTable.
