Museo Tamayo exhibition explores textiles and human connections

The Museo Tamayo is showing “El evento de un hilo,” an exhibition about textiles and human connections.

Curators Inka Gressel and Susanne Weiß brought together work by 16 contemporary artists, alongside 10 pieces from the museum’s collection.

The exhibition takes its name partly from artist Anni Albers’s idea of continually re-examining and restructuring relationships.

The works use textiles to explore how connections shape the way people live in the world.

They also raise questions about the origins and social meaning of fabrics, and the economic conditions behind textile traditions.

Textiles matter because they link everyday life with histories of trade and work.

The exhibition travels and adds new artworks and local research in each place it visits, offering fresh perspectives on textile histories.
