Hyosung Heavy Industries opens export-only circuit breaker plant in Changwon
South Korean manufacturer Hyosung Heavy Industries opened an export-only circuit breaker plant in Changwon, South Korea.
The factory will make high-voltage circuit breakers rated at 420, 550 and 800 kilovolts for overseas markets.
These devices help protect electrical grids, which are under pressure as demand for power grows, including from AI data centres.
The company says its capacity for breakers rated 420kV and above has doubled with the new plant.
It has brought component production, assembly, testing and shipping together at the site to streamline manufacturing.
The expansion is intended to help Hyosung meet large overseas orders and strengthen its position in the global power equipment market.
The company plans to expand supply through production bases in India and the United States, and to build its presence in Europe through its research centre in the Netherlands.
