Three arrested in 2006 killing after case is reopened

İbrahim Akgöl was found stabbed to death on June 22, 2006, in Samandağ, in Turkey’s Hatay province.

The investigation did not solve the killing, and it was recorded as an unsolved case.

Police reopened the case nearly 20 years later and identified 12 suspects.

Officers detained them in coordinated operations in Hatay, İzmir and Mersin.

After questioning, three of the 12 suspects were jailed by a judge.

Two others were released under judicial control, while the remaining suspects were released at earlier stages of the process.

The sources give no further details about what happens next.
