Poll finds one in five voters trust Australian Prime Minister Albanese
A survey of 2,250 Australian voters found that only 20 per cent trust Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
The poll was conducted from November 2 to 7, as voters faced rising interest rates and higher-than-expected inflation.
Forty-two per cent blamed the Albanese government for the cost-of-living crisis, compared with 26 per cent who blamed international factors.
The poll came after the Reserve Bank raised interest rates for the fifth time that year, taking them to 4.85 per cent, an 18-year high.
Labor’s primary vote fell to 28 per cent, matching its post-election low, while the Coalition was at 22 per cent and One Nation at 25 per cent.
The survey also found that a $6 million grant to a golf club in Albanese’s electorate had damaged trust in him.
The poll suggests cost-of-living concerns are weighing on Labor, though changes in party support were within the poll’s margin of error.
