Health inspection closes butcher shop in Domont over hygiene breaches

Authorities closed Boucherie Les 2 Frères in Domont, in France’s Val-d’Oise department, on 26 October after a health inspection.

Inspectors found greenish, sticky beef considered unfit to eat and mould on a bone saw.

They also reported dirty equipment, poor food storage, missing traceability and a lack of controls to prevent contamination.

A food transport truck contained rust, dirt and an electric scooter alongside meat.

The prefecture said the conditions posed a serious and immediate public health risk, including possible contamination and food poisoning.

The closure will remain in place until the shop meets hygiene standards.
