Just Dial tests merchant software to grow its paying customer base
Just Dial is testing new software tools for merchants as it seeks to grow its business.
The Indian platform helps consumers find businesses and earns most of its revenue from paid listings and subscriptions.
CEO Dinkar Ayilavarapu says the company will focus on discovery, rather than building a marketplace with delivery and returns services.
The change comes as only 656,520 of its 57.4 million listings were paid campaigns in the September quarter.
Just Dial is also exploring lower starting prices to attract more small and medium-sized businesses.
The software has been tested with hundreds of merchants, and Ayilavarapu said it would launch sooner rather than later.

What people are saying
The products are in the lab right now, but they have already been tested with hundreds of merchants. And initial responses are awesome.
This will come out into the world sooner rather than later.
We are anchored in discovery, and have a massive B2C merchant base.
We run a lightweight subscription model rather than a heavy marketplace model with returns and fulfillment logistics.
