Premier League Panel Says Gudmundsson Was Rightly Booked

The Premier League's Key Match Incidents panel backed the yellow card shown to Leeds United defender Gabriel Gudmundsson against Manchester United.

The decision came after Gudmundsson caught Andrey Santos while trying to win the ball during Leeds' 1-1 draw at Elland Road.

The panel voted 5-0 that the referee's call was correct, and agreed VAR was right not to intervene.

It said the contact was low force and did not meet the threshold for serious foul play.

The panel also unanimously backed the decision not to award Leeds a penalty after captain Ethan Ampadu appealed following contact with Harry Maguire.

The findings explain why both reviewed decisions stood.
