Tianjin aims to join China’s top tier for digital economy by 2030

Tianjin says it aims to rank among China’s leading digital economies by 2030.

The northern Chinese city plans to build a national pilot zone for digital economy innovation during the 2026–2030 planning period.

Its plans include linking digital technology more closely with traditional industries and developing artificial intelligence and data-related businesses.

Tianjin also wants to expand computing infrastructure and domestic chip development to support uses across industries.

It plans to strengthen digital economy cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and share computing resources across borders.

The city says it will set rules for data use and support public-data operations, while attracting projects and companies.

Officials say the next step is to turn the plans into specific actions and projects.
