Art Basel Qatar names 82 galleries for its 2027 fair
Art Basel Qatar will hold its second fair in Doha from January 28 to 30, 2027.
The event will bring together 82 galleries from 37 countries, slightly fewer than the 87 at its first edition.
Iraqi curator Wassan Al-Khudhairi is leading the fair as artistic director, with each gallery planning a solo presentation.
The theme is “between,” focused on different perspectives and histories meeting.
More than a third of participating galleries operate in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, and half of the artists are from those regions.
The fair aims to build relationships with collectors and support the regional art market, offering galleries help with logistics and some travel, accommodation and shipping costs.
Regional tensions could affect plans; if the fair is postponed or substantially changed, galleries can receive a refund or defer participation to the planned 2028 edition.
