Saudi stocks rise for a second week as gains narrow and trading slows

Saudi Arabia’s TASI index rose for a second week, closing at 10,095 points, up 1.75%.

The gains followed eight straight weeks of losses, the longest such run since 1994.

Lower government and US bond yields eased pressure on share valuations, while reported third-quarter profits also improved.

But earnings growth was uneven: 85 companies reported higher profits, 62 reported lower profits and 34 recorded losses.

The rally also narrowed, with 116 stocks rising and 133 falling, while weekly trading value dropped 28% to 18.8 billion riyals.

This means the index’s rise has not yet confirmed a lasting recovery, as gains depended more on large companies and fewer shares advanced.

More company results were due by the November 11 disclosure deadline, which could give investors a fuller picture of how widely profits are growing.
