One in three Brazilian concertgoers has gone into debt for a show
A survey of 930 Brazilian concert and festival fans found that one in three had taken on debt to attend an event.
The survey was conducted in August 2026 by Serasa, Mapa dos Festivais and Instituto Opinion Box.
One in three said they had borrowed or taken on debt for a show or festival, and the same share spent more than R$1,000 on their last event.
The costs can go beyond tickets: food and drinks were the biggest expense for 32% of respondents, ahead of tickets at 29%.
Transport and accommodation also add to the bill, and 14% said they had left a basic bill unpaid to attend an event.
Many fans plan ahead but still underestimate total costs; 83% said they plan financially, while 45% start organising one to three months in advance.
The findings show why fans may need to include travel, food and lodging in their budgets, not just the ticket price.

What people are saying
When planning focuses on the ticket, the real cost is not accounted for. Travel, food and accommodation should be added, as they represent a significant part of the whole experience.
Installment payments can help with budgeting, but it is important to remember that the installments remain part of the household budget even after the event ends.
