Source of money for Bolsonaro film remains unknown
Daniel Vorcaro directed 62 million reais toward Dark Horse, a film about former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro.
Bolsonaro’s son Flávio, a presidential candidate, has said he asked Vorcaro for sponsorship through a private transaction, but has not presented a contract.
Banco Master’s liquidator found no records of the bank funding the film, either directly or through another party.
Flávio’s office says he sought the sponsorship but did not handle the payments or know how they were made.
Federal police traced the payments to Entre Investimentos, a firm led by Antonio Carlos Freixo Junior, who was described as a money dealer for Vorcaro.
In testimony to police, an intermediary said he was told the money was for a US real-estate investment, not a film.
The original source of the film’s funding remains unknown, and the information provided does not say what will happen next.
