Beijing launches cloud platform linking computing resources on Earth and in space
A Beijing space computing center launched a cloud platform to manage computing resources in space and on the ground.
The platform covers resources from more than 40 satellites and combines them with ground-based processors.
It supports large AI models running tasks across satellite and ground systems.
Its workflow sends models into orbit for processing and returns the results to Earth, with resources managed through one system.
This could help develop space applications such as monitoring activity in space and improve how information is processed.
The center and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology also set up a public service platform to support standards, testing, application development and industry links.
Beijing’s Space Computing Innovation Center launched an integrated space-and-ground computing cloud platform on Oct. 30.
The platform covers computing resources from more than 40 satellites and pools them with ground-based CPU, GPU and NPU resources.
It supports coordinated scheduling of large-model inference across space and ground systems.
The center says the platform connects the full process from gathering computing resources to uploading models, running inference in orbit and returning results.
The center and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology also announced a public service platform for the space-computing industry.
